Are you aware of the new trend in travel? AARP did a study on 2015 travel trends and discovered that 36% of those surveyed were planning on taking a multi-generational trip with the family in the coming year. One quarter of those respondents said they planned to travel with three generations. This trend is predicted to grow as more Gen X-ers start turning 50 next year.

"Many people are realizing that travel is a great way to form bonds with family members and spend quality time together," said Heather Hunter, spokeswoman for AAA. She goes on to say, “"Cruises are great, because it allows members of the family to take part in different activities and still meet up for meals or at the pool. Tour vacations are also a nice option because they can be customized to meet the needs of the group, and theme parks are a good fit for active families.”

Many hotels are offering special family reunion packages or discounts for booking multiple rooms. Theme parks, such as Disney, are also offering discounted rates for groups that book ten or more. It’s also an option for family reunions.

If you’re looking to sell more travel, then this is a great group to focus on.

Would you believe the majority of veteran travel agents said that new agents expect sales to skyrocket as soon as they launch their travel business? When it doesn’t, they allow disappointment to set in

Having pre-set sales goals is a big mistake.  New agents have to understand it takes time and money to get a business started.  The first three or four months are the time to lay the groundwork for a successful business.

New agents need to focus on learning the ropes, sales techniques and allow time to gain product knowledge.  How can you sell a honeymoon package to Jamaica if you know nothing about Jamaica or how to sell Jamaica?

Check out travel organizations like ASTA (American Society of Travel Agents), CLIA (Cruise Line International Association) or the OSSN (Outside Sales Support Network).  These organizations are dedicated to the success of travel agents.  They all offer great educational opportunities and give you the opportunity to network with other agents.
